pronouns: she|her|hers

Emma Fuini joined Collaborative Insight Counseling Associates (CICA) as a psychotherapist in April 2024.

Emma utilizes a trauma-informed, person-in-environment approach that recognizes the importance of both individual and environmental factors that influence a person’s well-being and behavior. Emma understands that there is no “one size fits all” approach to working with clients who are seeking therapy, therefore she adopts techniques from varying practice modalities including CBT, psychoanalysis, behavioral therapy, and solutions-focused therapy. Emma also has extensive experience working with transgender and gender non- conforming individuals, and other populations who are often underserved in the mental health field. She believes that her clients are the experts in their own lives, and offers a compassionate, safe, and inviting environment for those who are on their journey for self-discovery and healing.

Emma specializes in providing compassionate support for individuals navigating trauma, including those impacted by community violence, distressing medical encounters, workplace burnout, and intimate partner violence. Furthermore, she excels in aiding clients facing grief, life transitions, or heartbreak, fostering resilience and healing amidst challenges. Her expertise extends to addressing various mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD, ensuring a comprehensive approach to holistic well-being.

“We are all just trying our best to make our way in this world. I hope to walk along side my clients on their journey to healing and self discovery by providing non-judgmental, compassionate, and trauma-informed guidance”
— Emma Fuini, LCSW

Emma’s experience prior to joining the practice includes multiple medical settings, ranging from hospital to primary care settings. Emma worked as the social worker for the Surgical and Neurological Intensive Care Unit at Boston Medical Center, where she supported patients and their families in the most acute phases of their hospitalization. Here, she provided extensive support, trauma processing, resources, and referrals to community organizations to her patients.

Born and raised in Connecticut, Emma has been a New England native for her entire life. Emma earned her Bachelors in Social Work from the University of New Hampshire, where she was the lead researcher collecting data on independent abortion clinics across the nation that also provide healthcare services for transgender and gender non-conforming individuals. She then pursued her Masters in Social Work at Simmons University in Boston, with Advanced Standing designation. Here, she received the “Outstanding Competence in Multicultural Practice” award for her outstanding work with patients during her internship at Boston Medical Center.

Fun Fact: Emma is a huge bookworm, averaging at reading 100 books per year. When she’s not reading, Emma enjoys being active, trying new restaurants, cuddling with her orange tabby cat, Ruthie, and tuning into Boston sports (or British reality television).
