Lisa Garcia, MA, LMHC

pronouns: she|her|hers

Lisa Garcia joined Collaborative Insight Counseling Associates (CICA) as the practice’s very first independently licensed clinical psychotherapist in November 2018. She went on to become its first Clinical Supervisor and held this dual role until transitioning out of her client and supervisee-facing responsibilities, to then assume the role of CICA’s Peer Consultant in March 2023.

She specializes in working with clients with trauma histories, depression and various anxiety disorders. Employing her native proficiency in English and Spanish also allows her to extend culturally sensitive mental health care services to various client demographics, oftentimes to individuals for whom such care has been previously inaccessible. Lisa hopes to leverage her clinical expertise to support individuals and families as they seek to better understand and navigate challenges in their lives from both macro and micro perspectives, ultimately facilitating long-term healing.

“My clients often have reported feeling supported, seen & understood.”
— Lisa Garcia, LMHC

Lisa’s experience prior to joining the practice includes extensive long-term work with clients (children, adults, couples, and families) struggling with mood/anxiety disorders, relationship difficulties, restructuring families and trauma/PTSD. Lisa’s clinical interests include learning about the interplay of racial, systemic, and socio-economic constructs in mental health care delivery, in addition to working with clients diagnosed with PTSD, adjustment and other disorders. She keeps her own clinical skills sharp through her work in supervising and training junior clinicians and administrative staff, and regularly attending local/regional courses, seminars and conferences.

Lisa attended Emmanuel College where she earned her B.A. in Psychology, with a concentration in Counseling and Health Psychology. She went on to earn her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from William James College (formerly the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology) in Newton, MA., and became an independently Licensed Mental Health Clinician (LMHC) soon thereafter.

More recently, she became endorsed as an Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist by the Massachusetts Association for Infant Mental Health. Lisa is also currently a Early Relational Health program Fellow at the UMass Chan Medical School, seeking to deepen her clinical training in supporting society’s most vulnerable children and families. This ongoing fellowship training sits atop her own bustling solo practice caseload — Ally Therapy Services — as well as serving as CICA’s Peer Consultant for multiple staff cohorts.

Fun Fact: Her favorite week of the year is Shark Week, but she refuses to ever swim with sharks herself!
