Raihaan N. Attawala, MS, LMHC

pronouns: HE|HIM|HIS

Raihaan Attawala joined Collaborative Insight Counseling Associates (CICA) as an independently licensed clinical psychotherapist in May 2021.

Born in Bombay (Mumbai), Raihaan was raised living in both India and the United States. He earned his B.A. in Psychology from Mithibai College in Mumbai, India, later immigrating to the United States in 2016. He went on to earn his M.S. in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University in Boston, MA, where he also joined APPEAR, a phenomenal research team studying various body image and appearance-related issues.

He specializes in working with diverse populations, particularly those experiencing or diagnosed with anxiety, mood disorders, trauma and PTSD, ADHD, and attachment barriers. Raihaan strives to develop a positive therapeutic relationship with his clients, aiming toward creating change while utilizing a broad range of treatment modalities, tailored to suit their unique needs and support the goals they set.

Prior to joining CICA, Raihaan began his career as an In-Home Therapist, working with families and children across the Greater Boston area, supporting them through better understanding their depression, anxiety, trauma, regulation barriers, ADHD, early onset psychotic symptoms, and attachment concerns in a community-based setting. He has amassed extensive experience working with diverse racial/ethnic groups, the LGBTQIA community, as well as a variety of other underserved populations he credits for intensifying his passion for his work.

“I work to use a broad range of treatment modalities, tailored to suit your unique needs and support the goals you set.”
— Raihaan Attawala, LMHC

Raihaan appreciates that Boston is one of many cities that thrives partly due to its diversity, and as such, seeks to create a therapeutic home for individuals going through cultural transitions, establishing a safe space to which clients can bring their full, unabashed, authentic selves. He believes each person/client is inherently unique and carries with them their own expression of self, and further, that goals are developed based on those unique needs, through an accepting and cooperative therapeutic relationship.

Fun Facts: While at Mithibai College, Raihaan co-founded and managed an Instagram food blog with the express purpose of gaining enough clout to earn free meals from local restaurants, in exchange for reviews. He was extraordinarily successful at this venture. In his spare time, he now enjoys making spoofs of board games, having recently created an unofficial Star Wars edition Monopoly.
