Sheila W

Sheila joined Collaborative Insight Counseling Associates as an Administrative Assistant in December 2020. She went on to become the practice’s Billing Coordinator in July 2022.

Sheila’s role entails working with prospective clients to collect and verify their demographic and insurance information, facilitating the completion of pre-intake documentation, along with scheduling initial intake and subsequent therapy sessions. She also manages insurance billing and client invoicing.

Her previous experience in various clinical-adjacent roles, including inpatient/outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment centers, have been instrumental in her quickly becoming an invaluable part of CICA’s Administrative and Billing teams.

She was seeking a flexible career role wherein she could have a positive impact on the lives of others. With Covid-19 causing much distress in the lives of others and the increased demand for mental health professionals, CICA seemed like the perfect opportunity to put her background to use.

Originally from northern Maine, and the mid-west, settling back to Massachusetts where her parents grew up, Sheila has nurtured her love for the great outdoors. Be it the ocean, the mountains or exploring somewhere in between, in her down time, Sheila enjoys boating, fishing, kayaking, hiking, biking and horseback riding. She is also often found out for a walk, albeit mostly by herself because her idea of a “short” walk typically consists of 5 miles or more. Sheila has frequently participated in the 26.2-mile Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk, as well as many obstacle course races. Sheila also has a passion for animals. In the past, she has taught therapeutic horseback riding, worked at a vet’s office and has volunteered through a bully breed dog rescue. In addition to having owned dogs, she currently owns a chinchilla and has owned ferrets, a hedgehog, an albino python and fostered a calf in the past! Sheila also enjoys reading and researching, especially if the topics include owls or sharks. Frequently, you will find her eagerly awaiting a shark sighting on Cape Cod, although from the comforting safety of either land or a boat.

Fun Fact: Despite also being part Native American, one of my direct ancestors was the first to be born in the United States, on The Mayflower, off the coast of Provincetown. His original cradle remains on display at the Pilgrim Museum.
