Yaqi (Vion) He will join Collaborative Insight Counseling Associates (CICA) as a pre-licensed psychotherapist in September 2025.

Vion’s approach to counseling is grounded in multicultural, feminist, and collaborative lenses. She views the therapeutic space as a deeply human encounter—one where healing happens through relationship, and where each person’s unique context, identity, and story matter. She strives to show up to sessions with warmth and authenticity, recognizing that connection itself can be a powerful tool for meaningful change.

After moving to the U.S. from Fujian, China at age 17, Vion knows what it’s like to navigate cultural transitions, identity development, and the experience of living between worlds. Her lived stories inform her passion for working with Asian-American communities, emerging adults, and others exploring who they are across shifting contexts and generations. Fluent in both English and Mandarin, Vion offers a space that honors narrative, language, and the complexity of your story.

Vion has supported clients navigating issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, identity exploration, life transitions, neurodiversity, relationship concerns, and systemic oppression. She cares deeply about making therapy accessible, affirming, and responsive, especially for LGBTQIA+ folks and international students. In her work, she takes the time to support clients in reconnecting with their voice, agency, and values.

“You don’t have to have it figured out to begin. I’m here to support you in exploring what healing can look like—for you, in your language, and on your terms.”
— Vion He, Ed. M, Phil. M

Prior to joining CICA, Vion gained experience across diverse settings, including conducting research on LGBTQIA+ mental health, providing case management for low-income elders, and delivering outpatient therapy for children and adults at a community clinic within Penn Medicine. Through these roles, she came to see how our internal lives are deeply intertwined with cultural, familial, and systemic environments we’re part of, and that therapy must make room for all those truths.

While grounded in a humanistic foundation, Vion draws from a range of treatment modalities including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral (DBT), Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT), mindfulness, and motivational interviewing. She also weaves in creative and somatic tools, such as writing, art, and play. She looks forward to creating spaces where community, expression, and even nature can become part of the healing process.

Vion attended New York University and earned her B.S. in Applied Psychology. She then went on to earn her M.S. Ed. in Counseling and Mental Health Services, as well as her M. Phil. Ed. in Professional Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA.

Fun fact: Vion enjoys creative writing (short fiction) and collage as her favorite ways to wind down. She also collects beautiful mugs but somehow always ends up using the same one.
