Virginia Anderson will join Collaborative Insight Counseling Associates (CICA) as a pre-licensed psychotherapist in September 2025.

Virginia is an alternative lifestyle affirming clinician who approaches work with clients from a place of curiosity and compassion, to collaborate with clients on their ideal version of therapy. She provides a non-judgemental and empathic space, where together, you and Virginia can explore what matters most to you: challenges, aspirations, and all the in between while learning to navigate struggles, goals and dreams in a way that honors your complexity.

Her clinical practice is rooted in attachment and psychodynamic therapies, while maintaining space to adapt modalities to clients needs. Her personal experience as a Black pansexual woman with lived experience in sex work and non-monogamy deeply informs her practice. Her professional experience with queer-affirming, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive frameworks support change, acceptance and self-exploration, especially for those whose lives exist outside dominant norms.

“Therapy is here to create space to understand, honor and grow into all that you are. In our work together, you are invited to come as you are and my role is to walk alongside you as you discover what healing looks like for you.”
— Virginia Anderson, MA

Virginia has had past personal and professional work experience with foster youth and the foster care system. These experiences have shaped her perspectives of the world and therapy within that world, creating a goal to lead with curiosity and kindness that is apparent in her practice. Virginia has been the client of many therapists and finds that this unique dynamic can provide a space to be understood and acknowledged as a human who deserves respect and care. Virginia has an undergrad Psychology degree and received a Masters of Social Work from Simmons University with a Trauma Certificate. She chose a social work degree to combine the medical side of the mind with the realities of the world we navigate with all its challenges and systems of power. This has made her a more well rounded and open minded clinician, able to think flexibly and with a wide scope. Virginia has worked as a private practice therapist that worked primarily with minority/global majority populations. Most of her work was with clients who had experienced trauma and dealt with anxiety, relational difficulties, self regulation struggles that brought them to therapy.

Virginia works primarily with BIPOC, LGBTQ+/TGNC, neurodivergent, polyamorous, kinky, and alternative lifestyle communities. Her areas of focus include anxiety, complex trauma and PTSD, sexuality and sexual exploration, grief, and relationships. Her practice ranges from pre-teens to older adults.

In Virginia’s practice, she creates a diverse, safe, and supportive space where clients can explore their identities and experiences with richness and reflection. She looks forward to meeting you!

Fun fact: Virginia enjoys cheating at board games, feeding her friends and napping in their beds.
